Hello, I’m Matthew Freeman — a lifelong New Englander, father, husband, and proud University of New Hampshire alumnus (Class of 2009, MBA ’10).

My family story in Dover goes back nearly a century. In the 1900s, my ancestors made the journey from Ireland to Dover, seeking a better life. They built their roots here, and our earliest train tracks. Generations later, I take pride in knowing that my one- and three-year-old sons now live in the same home their great-great-grandfather purchased all those years ago. My mother went to Dover High. My father went to St. Thomas. My grandmother has lived here her entire life, and was a teacher in the Dover school system for her entire career. That legacy of family, resilience, and commitment to Dover is what drives me today.

I am running to represent Ward One on the Dover City Council because this city is at a critical moment. Dover has always been a community of character, strength, and innovation — but with rapid growth and rising costs, we are at risk of losing the very qualities that make it special. My goal is to bring common sense, strategic thinking, and community pride to the council so that Dover’s future remains as strong as its past.
